DOORS Beginner Guide: Survive Rush, Ambush & Your First Hotel Run

Official Roblox experience icon for DOORS

This guide solves one problem: how to survive your first Hotel run in DOORS—door routing, entity cues, and the mistakes that end a run early. Play the official experience on Roblox — DOORS (LSPLASH). Free rewards (when available) live on our DOORS codes page.

What this guide solves

New players die to Rush because they ignore flickering lights, open Dupe doors, or stay hidden until Hide ejects them into Ambush. DOORS rewards listening, checking door numbers, and treating every dark room as a Screech check.

  • Goal: Reach the mid-Hotel (Library / Figure) with a flashlight, vitamins habit, and entity muscle memory.
  • Focus: Audio/visual cues first; loot second.
  • Non-goal: Full Mines / Backdoor mastery on day one.

Step-by-step: first efficient Hotel session

1. Lobby setup

  1. Wear headphones. Terror and chase cues are designed to be heard.
  2. Start on the standard Hotel floor. Learn the numbered-door loop before harder modifiers.
  3. Grab a light source ASAP (flashlight / lighter loot). Dark rooms are Screech territory.

2. Core survival loop (every room)

  1. Open the next numbered door. Remember the number you just left—Dupe clones wrong numbers in multi-exit rooms.
  2. Loot drawers and containers quickly, then keep moving. Standing still in the open loses to Rush/Ambush.
  3. If lights flicker: hide in a closet/bed immediately. Wait until Rush’s scream fully fades before leaving.
  4. If Ambush returns (scream volume rises again): exit briefly when safe to avoid Hide’s eject, then re-hide for each pass.
  5. In dark rooms, when you hear “psst” / screen shake: look around until you face Screech so it despawns.
  6. Never stare at Eyes—look away and walk past.

3. Entity cheat sheet (Hotel starters)

  • Rush: Flickering lights → hide → leave after scream ends.
  • Ambush: Same as Rush, but 1–4 return passes. Manage Hide timer between passes.
  • Hide: Flashing warning text while hiding means leave soon or take the eject damage if Rush is still active.
  • Eyes: Look away; keep moving.
  • Screech: Face it after the “psst” cue in dark rooms.
  • Dupe: Only enter the correctly numbered next door; listen for low rumble near fakes.
  • Figure (Library / Electrical): Blind—crouch, minimize noise, use vitamins to create distance, complete closet mini-games if forced to hide.
  • Seek chase: Follow blue-lit paths / crawlspaces; do not stop to loot mid-chase.

4. Loot priorities

  • Light source before deep Greenhouse / Courtyard rooms (Snare is easier to spot lit).
  • Vitamins for Seek / Figure escapes.
  • Crucifix for emergencies (stuns bosses; banishes many lesser entities)—do not waste it on Jack jumpscares.

Tips and common mistakes

  • Mistake — ignoring flicker: Rush is free damage if you keep walking.
  • Mistake — overstaying closets: Hide ejects you; Ambush punishes bad timing.
  • Mistake — wrong door numbers: Dupe’s 40 damage adds up with other hits.
  • Tip — door memory: Say the next number out loud before multi-exit rooms.
  • Tip — dark rooms: Sweep the camera the moment you hear Screech’s cue.

FAQ

Do I need friends for my first clears?

Solo is fine for learning cues. Co-op helps with loot and revives later, but audio discipline matters more than party size early on.

Should I buy everything at Jeff’s shop?

Prioritize light + healing/utility that matches the next threat. A Crucifix is strong insurance once you can afford it.

When do The Mines start?

After Hotel progression. Master Rush/Ambush/Screech/Dupe/Figure first—Mines add ceiling threats and new chase layouts.

Updated Oct 26, 2026 (Pacific Time). Entity spawns and floor layouts can change after LSPLASH updates—verify cues in-game.
