Dead Rails Beginner Guide — Fuel, Weld & Survive
Dead Rails by RCM Games is a co-op Roblox survival ride: keep a train fueled, loot zombie towns, and weld defenses as you push farther down the rails. This beginner guide covers the opening outpost, first purchases, and night survival.
What to do first
- Join a lobby from the train platform (public or private party size).
- At the starting outpost, follow the on-screen prompts: sell the gold bar, then fuel the train with coal.
- Use your Sack (equip it, look at an item, press F on PC) to store and drop loot cleanly.
- Grab the newspapers near the newsstand. Drag them to the train and press Z to weld — they act as bulletproof cabin cover. Block the cabin entrance so night enemies cannot walk straight in.
- Buy starter gear before you leave (see table below).
First-day shopping priority

After day one, prioritize ranged weapons (Revolver → Shotgun → Rifle) so you can clear furniture stores and towns for fuel and sellables. Bandages stay mandatory for teammate revives.
Surviving the open road
- Check the cabin clock — night pressure ramps around 10 p.m. in-game.
- Safe towns / outposts appear roughly every 10 km; turret outposts can cover a night if you wait before leaving the first base.
- Hold W in the train seat to accelerate; avoid jumping off a moving train.
- If nobody drives, the train eventually stops — do not strand the group mid-biome at dusk.
- Melee works on slow zombies; vampires and fast threats need guns and cabin cover.
Classes and Robux (optional)
Classes can be unlocked with in-game Bonds over time. Permanent weapons/storage are the least wasteful Robux spends if you play a lot; avoid panic “revive everyone” purchases until the fight is actually stable.
